Accurate Cargo Information Required – Airfreight

Dear Valued Client

Please review the below notice from main airlines:

Most airlines are charging and penalising for no-shows, low-shows and overshows on cargo that has been booked. The shipper and agent will require more accurate cargo specifications at the booking stage and tighter control of the delivery times to avoid the airline penalties.

A few airlines have also introduced a weight and volumetric concept that increases the rate per kg if the cargo falls outside of the tolerance compared to what has been booked. This is another risk as the airlines endeavour to capitalize on maximum loads per flight and penalize the agents for providing inaccurate weights and dimensions when the booking is made. It is therefore more important than ever to provide accurate booking information, including whether cargo is stackable or not.

An additional reminder that cargo must be properly packed to withstand the perils of airfreight.

• Marked and labelled with the shipper and consignee details
• All documents must be checked and ready-for-carriage state
• The onus is on the shipper, consignee, or owner to ensure that the goods are insured
• Any dangerous or hazardous cargo is declared at the time of the booking
