- Importance of adding SCT Supply Chain Solutions as the NOTIFY PARTY on prepaid CFR, CT, CIF shipments
More and more shipping lines now refuse to provide SCT with the critical clearance documentation known as Arrival Notifications (ANF’s or Shipped on Board – SOB) unless SCT is listed on the bill of lading as the notify party. On shipments that we manage (EXW, FCA, FOB) this is covered through our documentation processes but on prepaid shipments (“C“ and “D” incoterms) your suppliers are in control of the bill of adding structures. If SCT is listed as the notify party on the Bill of Lading then we get access to the ANF / SOB details and have no need for your intervention, however if SCT is not listed as the notify party then the responsibility to secure the SOB details from the shipping line and pass the same on to SCT becomes that of the importer and can create delays and additional workload on your side.
We therefore request that you consider issuing a standard instruction to all suppliers to include SCT as the notify party on your shipments. You can advise them to add as follows:

2. SA: Drop in fuel price could also reduce cost of logistics
We all welcome the drop in fuel price this week. The Road Freight Association notes that any decrease in the cost of fuel – in particular, larger decreases – will have a tremendously positive effect on transport costs and supply chains over the coming quarter.
3. Disruption to Asia supply chains
China and South Korea supply chains are seeing disruption as Typhoon Hinnamore causes operations to cease at ports in the region. The storm has currently impacted vessels at key ocean ports including Shanghai, Ningbo and Busan whilst many flights have been cancelled at the Shanghai Pudong Airport. https://www.woodlandgroup.com/news/news/asia-typhoon-advisory-typhoon-hinnamor-forces-the-closure-of-chinese-and-south-korean-ports/
4. UK: Liverpool port advisory- confirmed strike action
Strike action at the port of Liverpool has been confirmed to take place from 9th of September to 3rd October following over 560 votes from workers in favour of the walk-out. Disruption is expected across supply chain of the UK and some of Europe and Ireland.
Please note that we are monitoring the above disruptions and an SCT representative will contact Clients based on shipments that may be affected.
