Dear Valued Client

We would like to bring to your attention two significant developments that may impact your supply chain planning.

Potential Port Strike Due to Wage Dispute

Ongoing wage negotiations between UNTU members and Transnet management have escalated, raising concerns about a possible strike. While discussions are still underway, there is increasing uncertainty regarding operations at our key ports. Should industrial action occur, it may result in delays and service disruptions. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as new information becomes available.

General Rate Increase – MSC

MSC has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective 1 June 2025. This adjustment will apply to all cargo moving from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Southeast Asia to South Africa, East Africa, and Indian Ocean Islands. The increase of USD 300 / Unit is in response to continued operational cost pressures and market conditions. We do expect other carriers to follow suit.
