We have received reports of unrest in the Thembisa area, approximately 20km from OR Tambo International Airport, with buildings and trucks being set alight and public transport at a halt. SCT Johannesburg office staff have either been delayed or have not been able to get to work today. Company vehicles are being targeted and we will therefore monitor deliveries in this area every hour.

UPDATE FROM AIRLINES:-
Airlines are currently on “skeleton” staff as majority of their workers did not arrive at work due to the riots.
Menzies – only have 1 forklift driver
Swissport – currently no forklift driver, TBA
WFS – only have 1 forklift driver
They anticipate the riots to continue for 3-5 days.
