Local Port Challenges

Dear Valued Client

Durban Pier 2 and Cape Town terminals are currently severely congested causing limited port bookings and a delay in collecting containers within the free storage period. We have investigated the matters with local service providers to understand the severity and can confirm that Durban Pier 2 has limited port bookings available for truckers especially at towers 202/203. Cape Town had reported equipment breakdowns with straddle carriers as well as limited port bookings since Monday in attempt to alleviate landside congestion. Gates also close intermittently during high traffic volumes, therefore reducing turnaround times for truckers to collect containers.

Although port challenges have been ongoing and remain a real challenge, we wish to assure you that our team is giving every shipment their utmost attention and will prioritise deliveries best possible.
