Low water levels could lead to closure of the Rhine

Water levels of the Rhine have dropped to below 50cm, and it is expected to be closed to barge traffic soon. Should this happen, cargo will have to move either with the already congested rail network or alternatively by truck which will come with greater cost implications.

This will impact some of the cargo moving around Europe, but we are monitoring the situation closely and our Forwarding Team will contact any clients who will be affected by this.
