1.Update: Strike Action at German Ports

The announced strike by German port workers ended on Saturday as planned, with employers securing a moratorium from the courts prohibiting further strike action until the 26th of August. While both sides return to negotiations in an attempt to reach an agreement, the situation at the ports is slowly returning ‘to ‘normal’. We must stress that there is still a significant amount of congestion in the European ports, which will not be helped by the strike action, but workers are attending to the backlog and shipping lines are reorganizing their schedules in an attempt to deal with the situation as best they can. Client’s whose cargo will be delayed by this will be updated by our Forwarding Team.

2.Unrest in Durban and Johannesburg

We have received reports of unrest at Durban Port Pier 2 as well as Kempton Park. The situation does not seem to be escalating at this point and is being monitored, our Ops Team will update any clients affected by this.
