Transnet Change to Import Storage Free Days

Transnet has released the attached communication regarding the proposed changes to free time allowed for the collection of containers at Durban Port.

This is only a ‘Notice of Intention to Change’ the current system and not yet confirmed. The intended implementation dates are 01 September 2022 for Pier 2 and 01 October 2022 for Pier 1. Various stakeholders including SAAFF are involved in discussions with Transnet as there are multiple port inefficiencies that need to be resolved before this new initiative is put into place.

As the situation progresses we will update all clients, but would like to remind all of the importance of receiving documents in time so that releases from the shipping lines can be obtained 72 hours prior to vessel berthing.
