Update on Airfreight

Following this weekend’s sudden changes to travel restrictions as a result of the new Covid variant, we have witnessed the cancellation of many flights over the last 48 hours. This obviously has a critical impact on cargo movement. Our team are in contact with all airlines and airfreight operators both locally and internationally trying to secure concrete updates on the flights that will be cancelled and those still coming in over the week ahead. We are aware that it is imperative that we assess the impact on your cargo already booked and scheduled as well as assess the impact on future bookings and space restrictions. There is no doubt that recent events and decisions will have very serious consequences to airfreight cargo and add to the already serious congestion being experienced. We are at this time receiving very limited factual responses with all parties assessing the week ahead, it seems that many operators are still very unsure of the immediate impact of government travel bans and whether these will be lasting. As soon as we secure solid feedback we will update all our customers.
