  1. USA Port closures due to Hurricane Ian

Our USA partners have advised the following:

‘Please note due to Hurricane Ian, we have been informed that some Port terminals and warehouses in the Southeast and Gulf coast area of the country will be closed during the current week. Please see the schedule below of closed warehouses and ports:

Wednesday, September 28th: South Florida Port Terminals, Tampa CFS, Orlando CFS and Jacksonville CFS.
Thursday September 29th: Tampa CFS, Jacksonville CFS and Charleston CFS
Friday, September 30th: South Carolina Port Terminals, Jacksonville CFS and Charleston CFS

We are closely monitoring the situation and will update you of any new developments.

Since the closure of ports and warehouses will affect export and import deliveries and receiving, please expect further delays in the upcoming weeks.’

    2. Global Freight Constraints

Most of the world’s goods get transported by sea. The COVID-19 pandemic was a significant catalyst in shipping and manufacturing delays but more recent other factors such as container shortages, port congestions and rising transportation costs delay item deliveries. Global port congestion is worsening, and many ships remain anchored outside of port for days. Shipping delays and poor schedule reliability indeed affects every business and we at SCT ask that you contact us if we can in any way unpack any of these matters further or add additional understanding to current freight constraints.

We are geared to be as proactive as possible in this unstable market and to wherever provide factual feedback together with possible solutions to mitigate constraints. Partnership in this environment does not always mean good news but what we deem critical is transparency, passion, attention to detail and honesty as we seek the best efficiencies and costs for your cargo.
